For a while we've been really anxious about what we were going to do in terms of getting permission to use music or getting access to a live band; we had two possibilities on our hands, a: find a cover artist and request permission, b: ask a band I know for a week of recording and video work. The second one was slightly more of a challenge as it would mean having to find a singer, as well as travel to the destination which is a bit of a way out of Durham. However, we have just recently gained permission from a cover artist on youtube to use any of his covers - to which I will later upload a screen shot of the granted permission. This means in the long run all we have to worry about it miming which can be easily accomplished over as we do have access to instruments, the only worry I have is how we work in miming well enough with instruments, bands etc and getting actors. Do we need a live audience? Like a party from Jimmy Eat World? And if so how are we going to dot his? One of my initial thoughts is the school's drama room once again, but with props and lighting - this would mean we also have access to people around school if we did it during a set time. So I guess my main worries are how we are going to get performance actors and our locations. I guess if we came up with a pretty strong narrative, we could work it in our favour however. I do for some strange reason have an idea to shoot outside if we got a nice day one weekend.
We haven't yet decided what song we're going to use, but we're gearing more into the direction of Wonder-wall cover due to its original and very alternative sounding take.
Although it says punk rock version, it is also alternatively styled.
I personally feel this would be one of our top options, although slightly more acoustic, the lyrics are perfectly up for a narrative.
although the pace is pretty decent, this one could work but could be problematic due to the over whelming acoustic in this
All in all, I'm pleased that we've got permission to use stuff from this cover artist now as it means we have a grade a soundtrack to work with - the clarity and diversity is just fabulous and will really bring a quality out in our final product at the end of the day.
