Update

This is just a quick update on our current plans for filming. We have 6 weeks and 2 days before the end of time and already we're off of schedule; we need to start filming at least something this week so that we can film everything and edit it before christmas. At the moment, we haven't planned/gatehred props for anything apart from the live peformance which we hope to film this friday instead. Tonight, I am going to go meet my grandad tonight to see if we can use/borrow a professional camera for the upcoming weeks (and due to my recent training from the Northern Stars Academy based at Tyneside, where I've made a short film as DoP) I will be DoP for this project.
We couldn't begin to film or plan any earlier in reality because firstly, Sean has been away on holiday until this week and I have been away in residental filming with NSA. Because we need to film something soon, we are going to film the live peformance on friday night (providing we can get a camera) meaning our rolls will have to prep and the location finally tied down. This should be simpler than the narrative as it means we will have to plan shot angle and record the whole song from one particular area to create over lapping action, meaning that we'll have plenty to edit with.

So far, as we are beginning to plan before we get a camera, we have decided to split our team up into rolls:

Director - N/A
Producer - Reece
Production Designer - Sean
Sound - N/A
DoP - Katie
Editor - N/A

Director will be a combination of all of us; sound is not needed; editing will again be all of this.

Much like last year, we will be editing on a laptop again as the means are pratical, useful and portable and if we are using our own camera, it will be easier to move film about as well; when we go to render in HD however, we will do so on Sean's computer 3.4

------------------------

For this project, if we do manage to get a professional camera (even if it is a DSLR and not a camercorder) this will be usefel as to my recent training, it means that we can do a lot of cool focus tricks, fix exposure (which was troublesum in the last project) and have a fully correct or stylized white balance as well. All of these means will overall make the video quality look better, but the rest is also dependent up to us as well. This means that we will have to find good or at least decent actors and plan the narrative out - whilst there is a school scene, no more should be filmed in school so that it doesn't look stall and half done - it is defiantly worth scouting for locations as if we get some cool sets it would just make the music video look more composed in total and just more effort too. I am concerned about some of the street scenes, so I might have a scout around Durham or Newcastle, to see if we can grab some good locations to shoot in so we're away from the flat look that was in the last project - more so, I'm thinking of set as I think artchectiuale feel and build up is also important as the urban representation must be maintained as a theme - no place better than a city in reality.

  1. Still looking for your retrospective blog entry (please see my post of 6th November for info). Also, you might want to post a report on your recent progress (remember, we're aiming for 3+ blog entries per week)
