Music Video Planning

Today we were set the task to begin to plan our music video for this week and go into production next week as a test trial of our genre's and to apply the conventions we have learnt from our chosen genre. Me, Reece and Barry decided we'd take a look at the rock avenue and its extended media such as classic, punk and alternative as these apply the same codes of conventions for both music and video styles.
Reece however wasn't in today, so me and Barry had complications planning as we felt we couldn't choose a song or what we were doing without him. So, instead we began to plan a mind map of what we would need, the conventions we could apply and begin to take into consideration of what we had at our availability in terms of location and props as this test will be shot in school.
I scanned the mind map so we can reference it individually of if it is lost.

We found this extremely helpful although we hadn't chosen a song as it made us put in perspective our capabilities and limits to this project whilst being in school and having such a short deadline. What really crept up on us was the possibility of weather (even windows portraying such) on different shoot days and what we would have available - more so, we were beginning to create a check list.

From this point we were able to realise what was needed and what our limitations were, so we began to mind map a music sheet (which is incomplete) of possible songs we could use that would fit in to what we have accessible - once completed, will be uploaded.
Some of our song choice follows as such:
- Fat Lip Sum 41
- High School Never Ends Bowling for Soup
- Almost Bowling for soup
- She Don't Want Nobody Near Bowling for Soup
- Let Me Go Good Charlotte
- Like It's Her Birthday Good Charlotte

What me and Barry picked out was that alternative rock may be out best example for this test due to what is available and the following conventions - just posted, my sum 41 evaluation expresses the link between the youth audience and the video and the easily accessible sets - as compared to rock, classic rock or punk music videos. With these we began to write a few ideas of what we could do so that we would remember later on in relation to planning and so that we could explain to Reece in detail.

Hopefully, tomorrow Reece will return and we can begin checking off a few more songs and even begin planning.
